Here at Kingsfleet Wealth we are once again proud sponsors of the St Elizabeth’s Hospice’s candlelit remembrance event, Suffolk Remembers.
The charity’s annual event will take place on Felixstowe Seafront Gardens on 21st June, giving the people of Suffolk the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones no longer with us, by dedicating a candle in their memory. Over 5000 tea-lights will be lit in this unique outdoors celebration, each bearing the name of someone special. Together, they will fill sixteen large wooden letters that spell out SUFFOLK REMEMBERS.
With each of the letters available for company sponsorship, Kingsfleet Wealth are pleased to be sponsoring the letter “K”, which we are currently displaying in our office. At 9pm on the evening of the event this letter, along with the fifteen others, will light up Felixstowe seafront. Before we light the candles, we will be joined by Martlesham Brass and Pop Chorus, who are kindly providing the music for the event.
Pauline Donkin, individual giving manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Suffolk Remembers is fast becoming one of my favourite hospice events. There’s this incredible sense of community on the night as everyone comes together for the lighting of the candles and joins together to remember their loved ones as the sun sets on the longest day of the year. It’s so, so special and is open to anyone, not just people who have had an experience with the hospice or our nurses.”
Each year St Elizabeth Hospice has to generate £10.5m, so it can continue to offer its services to the people of Suffolk free of charge. Their specialist staff provide care and support for thousands of patients and their families, who are on a very difficult journey facing terminal illness. Not only do they offer help through therapy, symptom control and pain management, but also continued support into bereavement and the grieving that follows when we lose those we love.
This event is free to attend and everyone is invited to join in this unique celebration. Candles can also be dedicated to pets, who were once our companions and part of our families. To find out more about the work of St Elizabeth Hospice visit stelizabethhospice.org.uk.
