Each May, runners from around the region converge at Alton Water to compete in the 10K, 5K and 2K trail races. The routes take participants around the beautiful reservoir (in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and attract runners of all abilities.

Starting 11 years ago with just 70 runners, the event has grown to a huge, fun annual experience, for local people and beyond. A fantastic charity event, the Alton Water Run raises funds for local primary and secondary schools on the Shotley peninsula; which rely heavily on the monies raised for IT, sports and play equipment. As a supporter of local education, Kingsfleet Wealth share the vision that a strong education broadens access to opportunities for our region’s children. So we were delighted to sponsor the 5K race for the third year running, at this year’s Run on Sunday 19th May.

The weather did not fail us again this year, and whilst it was much cooler than last year’s event (which, as many runners recalled, fell during the May 2018 heatwave) the cloudy sky and light breeze brought perfect running conditions for the 700+ runners.

Here at Kingsfleet Wealth, Cullum Woods and George Hinds ran in our sponsored 5K race and both Colin Low and Gary Gladwell ran the full 10K race. Hannah, Kez and Mel were also actively involved and enjoyed giving out goodie bags to the runners of the 5K and 2K races. They also presented the prizes to the top three male and females runners in our 5K race, and of course provided invaluable cheering support to keep the runners going!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and we are looking forward to the 2020 run …
