Set in stunning scenery around the beautiful reservoir, the Alton Water Run is always a fantastic event for runners of all abilities. Plus, with the good fortune of being held during a weekend of glorious sunshine, this year’s Run (Sunday 6th May) was no exception.

As sponsors of the Alton Water 5K Race for the second year running, this year Kingsfleet Wealth not only helped to raise much needed funds for our local schools on the Shotley peninsula, but we also set our sights on collecting charity donations for PAPYRUS, the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people – male and female – under 35 in the UK. Plus, every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling. PAPYRUS exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives, by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

As a supporter of PAPYRUS, Kingsfleet Wealth share the vision that many young suicides are preventable and are keen to raise awareness about this fantastic charity and the work it does. The Alton Water Race has been a key part of our fundraising for PAPYRUS, and we were delighted to donate £500.00 following this event, to support their vital work.

“Our supporters and fundraisers provide a huge part of our income, which helps us to reach more people across the UK, supporting young people at risk of suicide,” said Ottilie Scanlon, PAPYRUS fundraising officer. “We’d like to say an enormous ‘thank you’ to Kingsfleet Wealth for all the hard work they have put in. Every £5 helps to cover the cost of our advisors responding to one telephone call, text or email to our helpline, HOPELINEUK, each of which could potentially be life-saving.”
