On 6th February 2018 Kingsfleet Wealth hosted their annual seminar for Premier clients, at the superb Suffolk Food Hall Feast Room, sharing the latest expert views and information on the big issues facing investors today.

Attendees enjoyed the stunning panoramic view across the River Orwell, perfectly described as “Suffolk at its best” by Terry Hunt (former Editor of the East Anglian Daily Times) who opened this year’s seminar. Terry’s passion for our region became evident as he spoke about his aspirations to create a more successful and prosperous County Town, through his work at the Ipswich Vision Board.

Terry then introduced guest speaker Ian Muirhead, Chairman of SIFA, who began his speech with an informative list about what clients generally look for in a trusted financial adviser and, the need for independent, unbiased financial advice; especially with regards to the changes in access to pension funds and fluctuating stock markets.

Outlining in brief recent key statistics and headlines, Ian then covered several key topics of interest; including Inheritance Tax, Pensions, Savings & Investments, ISAs, Venture Capital, Long Term Care and Equity Release.

Ian concluded his speech with a list of what to look for when choosing a financial adviser; citing independence as the “Hallmark of solicitor’s advice”, closely followed by Chartered Status, along with evidence of belonging to industry regulators and governing bodies.

Ian then handed over to Colin, who recalled his highlights of 2017, beginning with his debut appearance on ITV’s The Chase! Colin was also pleased to talk about Kingsfleet Wealth’s renewed Chartered Status for 2017, evidencing that customer focus remains at the very heart of all that they do. Other achievements included making the New Model Adviser Top 100 list once again.

Keen to also talk about the support that Kingsfleet Wealth provides to several local events (which in-turn support local education), Colin announced that they will once again be sponsoring both the annual Alton Water 5K Run and the ever-growing Felixstowe Book Festival. Plus, Kingsfleet Wealth are proud sponsors of Suffolk’s new fascinating landmark documentary, “Life On the Deben”, which is currently being screened at several local cinemas and is also now available to buy on DVD.

Colin concluded his speech by talking about Kingsfleet Wealth’s privilege in looking after their clients’ investments. He reflected on events during 2017 and potential concerns for 2018, noting the current uncertainty and volatility and pledging to protect client’s investments, making sure they out-perform trends.

Finally, Colin and Terry rounded off the seminar together with an informal Q&A about Terry’s life; from his early education through to his journalist career and finally his 21-year position as Editor of the East Anglian Daily Times – all peppered with his unwavering love of ITFC!
